Add Surveys with or without Dynamic Tokens Follow
Adding a Survey Link to a Session
Pathable supports the inclusion of links to surveys from the various sessions on your agenda. This is valuable for collecting post-event feedback on your speakers or sessions, for example.
At this time, Pathable does not offer a built-in survey tool, but allows you to integrate whichever tool you are most comfortable with (e.g., SurveyMonkey or CrowdSignal). Pathable also supports "dynamic tokens" so that information about who is taking the survey and which session they are responding to can be included automatically. This allows you to create a single survey for all your sessions, but then generate reports for each session individually.
To add a link to your survey that will appear on the agenda session detail page, from your Dashboard:
- Click Agenda
- Click the session you wish to add a survey to
- Paste the URL to your survey into the "Survey URL" field
You can also include the Survey URL in your spreadsheet (see the Importing Sessions from Spreadsheet help topic for more information.)
Using Dynamic Tokens to Prefill or Pass Information
Dynamic tokens are snippets that you add to the end of your survey's URL that prompt the Pathable platform to pass unique information to the survey provider. Depending on your survey provider, you may be able to prefill questions with answers, pass the information in the background, or both.
Note: SurveyMonkey calls this item "custom variables." You will need a paid SurveyMonkey account to configure custom variables, and there are a few steps on the SurveyMonkey side in order to enable them. See this article for more information: https://help.surveymonkey.com/articles/en_US/kb/What-are-custom-variables-and-how-do-I-use-them
To include dynamic tokens, you can add the following on to your URL contained in single "curly brackets" ("{}"):
- personId: ID of the user completing the survey
- personFirstName: First name of the user completing the survey
- personLastName: Last name of the user completing the survey
- personEmail: email address of the user completing the survey
- personExternalId: Event External ID of the user completing the survey
- personMasterExternalId: Master External ID of the user completing the survey
- parentId: ID of the meeting on which the survey URL appears
- parentName: Name of the meeting on which the survey URL appears
- parentExternalId: External ID of the meeting on which the survey URL appears
For example, the following would link to the "examplesurvey" on CrowdSignal, and prefill in the name of the person completing the survey as well as the name of the session they were rating as the responses to Question 1 and Question 2 respectively:
