Change System Language or Change System Labels (Internationalization) Follow
The Pathable platform is undergoing a multi-stage development project to increase its multi-lingual function. This page reflects what is currently available and will be updated as the stages progress.
Overview
Event hosts can edit the system labels for many areas of the attendee-facing app. This feature allows event hosts to use specific terminology with their attendees, and/or host events in languages other than English.
Note: The Language & Terms section does not translate the values for text fields that are added to a widget, agenda items, and campaigns. For those elements, the event host should translate the text directly, within that element.
Another important note is that in this stage, event hosts may change the labels from English to another language, but that does not make both languages available -- just the new language. Multi-lingual options are slated for development in the future.
Instructions
To customize the terms and language manually:
- On the Host Tools Dashboard, navigate to Settings>Language & Terms
- Find the term you would like to change
- Update the value in the Custom Term column and Save.
This term will be instantly updated in the attendee-facing app, anywhere it appears.
To customize the terms and language in bulk, via import:
- On the Host Tools Dashboard, navigate to Settings>Language & Terms
- Select the Export button on the left side of the Language and Terms toolbar. When the pop-up on the right side reads, "Export has been created for Terms. Click here to download it," click to download.
- In Column D of the generated spreadsheet, labeled "Custom Term," enter the word or phrase you'd like to display for each existing term in Column C. Save when complete.
- On the Host Tools Dashboard, navigate to Data Import>Import Jobs>Start New Import> Excel/CSV Spreadsheet>Terms
- Select the spreadsheet to import from the local computer
- Map all of the columns, then Start Import.
To Reset Terms to Default:
After any saved update, event hosts may reset all the terms to the English-language default by clicking the Restore Defaults button in the lower-left corner of the page.
Warning! As you might expect, Restore Defaults resets all terms. Once reset, terms cannot be un-restored.
