Livestream your Hybrid Event on Pathable Follow
This article is for event hosts/producers on how to livestream (transmit or receive live video and audio coverage of an event over the internet) their hybrid event with Pathable. We will go over the steps that work together simultaneously to setup your hybrid event so your virtual attendees can see and hear the content being produced live at your venue.

Capture the Content
To live stream, confirm there is a microphone and camera prepared in the event room where you are capturing live content. There are a wide range of cameras and microphones available. If your live event requires unique AV equipment, a third-party AV vendor may be needed, and we can connect you with our preferred partners.
Transform the Content
As the content is being captured, it must also be sent to an encoder which will transform the content into data to be sent over the internet. There are both hardware and software encoders to choose from:
Software Encoders | Hardware Encoders |
A program that runs on your laptop or desktop computer that transforms video and audio inputs into data and streams them over the internet to a designated destination. Examples:
|
A physical device that includes one or multiple video inputs that transforms video and audio inputs into data and streams them over the internet to a designated destination. Examples:

Send Data to a Destination
Once transformed, the data is sent to a CDN (content delivery network) or a designated destination like Vimeo, YouTube, or Wowza. This is where the data is processed and then can be sent back to the Pathable platform. See this article for all of the accepted services with the Pathable platform.
Please Note: Our new feature, DirectLink, allows you to connect directly to a Pathable agenda session. There are additional costs associated with DirectLink.
Connect to Pathable
Your stream destination can be linked directly to your agenda session on Pathable. There is no need to <embed> or <iframe>. You will attach the destination URL to the "Virtual" settings within the specific agenda session on your Pathable site. See this article for the steps on connecting your destination to Pathable.
View your Session on Pathable
Once the session is live, virtual attendees will see and hear the content from your venue directly on the Pathable platform next to the "Chat", "Polls", and "Files" on the session page.
